In negotiations, our PSAC/CIU bargaining team for the FB group has made proposals to Treasury Board and the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) concerning shift work, scheduling and part-time work.

The law says that all matters subject to negotiation are frozen until such time as the parties reach a new agreement, are in a legal strike position or until an arbitration award is issued. This means that our current terms and conditions are frozen. The same rules also apply with respect to changes that could have a direct impact on matters under negotiation or potentially subject to negotiation.

Greetings,

I am pleased to announced that our DCL 533 members who work at the Slots at Woodbine have secured a new collective agreement.

The 400 workers had been locked out by the OLG for nearly three weeks, during which time pickets were held at the Woodbine site 7 days a week for over 12 hours a day.

The courage and commitment of these members cannot be overstated. They fought hard for a fair contract and stood together during an extremely difficult time.

Greetings,

PSAC’s bargaining team met with the OLG and a conciliation officer on Tuesday, August 1, 2017.

I am pleased to announce that a tentative agreement was reached with the unanimous endorsement of our bargaining team.

Thank you for your support during this lock-out, which led to pressuring the OLG back to the bargaining table.

Ratification votes will be held this Thursday, August 3, 2017, where our members will have the opportunity to vote on the tentative agreement.

The members of PSAC/UCTE Local 50600 hit the picket line at the Winnipeg Airport on the morning of July 24. After seven days of intense mediation, the Winnipeg Airports Authority (WAA) walked away from the table at about 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 23. We remained available to the mediator until 3:00 a.m. and when no further communication was made by the employer, our members hit the picket line at 3:00 a.m. sharp.

The main priority issue is WAA’s use of contractors that are doing the work of bargaining unit members. We have filed grievances that are in the system and we have identified several cases where our members can do it more cost effectively. This has been all for naught and WAA refused to ensure the job security of our members.

New members: Welcome to PSAC!
