We Are All Affected Campaign

The Conservative government has told thousands of PSAC members they are “affected” and could lose their jobs. Our members are anxious for their future and for their families. They are frustrated because they have worked hard to serve Canadians. And they are worried about what these cuts mean for those who rely on public services.

Mental Health Matters

On Mental Health Day, the PSAC is calling on all levels of government to address the growing mental health crisis in Canada.

In an open letter to decision makers, PSAC is recommending a series of actions to address work overload, negative work environment, harassment, poor work-life balance and job insecurity.

Many workplace policies focus on the individual and fail to address the obligation of employers to provide a safe and healthy workplace.

To address this gap, the PSAC has developed a series of new tools to assist employers and workers navigate around mental health issues in the workplace.

Justice for Aboriginal Peoples - It's time!

Aboriginal Peoples in this country have endured centuries of oppression and face many challenges in their struggle for justice. This struggle is not only for the First Peoples of this nation to take on.

Treaties were signed between First Nations and the Government of Canada – the people we elected to represent us. So we all have a responsibility to ensure that the terms and conditions of those treaties are met.

The Justice for Aboriginal Peoples initiative is the next step in raising awareness about Aboriginal rights including putting pressure on the federal government to do the right thing.

Hands Off Our Pensions

PSAC members mobilizing to protect pensions and push for retirement security. Members are up in arms over media reports and right-wing lobby group campaigns to recoup the federal deficit on the backs of public service employees.

Our Fish

From wholesale closure of the cod fishery on the East coast resulting in losses to 27,000 northern cod fishers and the diminished work capacity of up to 100 processing plants to the millions of ‘missing' sockeye on the Fraser River leading to fishery restrictions and closure, the continuing collapse of fish stocks puts the culture, livelihoods and ecological heritage of many people across Canada in jeopardy. If this trend continues, in 50 years there won't be any fish in Canada's oceans and waters. Many more communities will suffer through job loss.

Food Safety First

The federal government is failing on food safety. It's time to fix the food inspector shortage. Stephen Harper is dragging his feet when it comes to making our food safe. FoodSafetyFirst.ca has given the federal government a failing grade on food inspection and enforcement.
