Sault Ste. Marie – On Thursday, August 13, 2015, approximately 400 workers will take part in an Ontario Labour Relations Board vote to decide whether to become unionized with the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC). Workers approached the union for representation due to concerns the Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) Corporation’s privatization plans will lead to job losses in Sault Ste. Marie.  

On July 16, 2015, the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) won an arbitral award for its members; officers who are employed by the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service (NAPS). The arbitral award, which substantially increases the pay of officers, who unfortunately are still funded less than their OPP counterparts, will narrow this discriminatory gap.

Toronto – The Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) Toronto Pride Committee will be hosting a discussion panel on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans refugees coming to Canada on World Refugee Day.

Sarnia –The federal Conservative government’s latest budget implementation Bill C-59, Division 20, undermines the collective bargaining rights of federal public service workers. The Supreme Court has already established the right to collective bargaining as a Charter right, a right that is being violated should Bill C-59 become law. Workers in Sarnia will be holding pickets on June 2, 2015 to urge the government to reverse course and respect the Charter rights of workers. When: Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at 1pm

Windsor – Today Prime Minister Stephen Harper heads to Windsor, where he'll join Public Works Minister Diane Finley and local MP Jeff Watson for a "roundtable" at a local hotel. The event will be closed off to media and the public; a trend of inaccessibility and lack of transparency this government has become known for. PSAC members, along with members from UNIFOR, CUPE and the Windsor District Labour Council will be picketing outside the hotel over the government’s latest omnibus budget bill. Kenora – On March 22, 2013, the Treaty Three Police Services Board announced in a letter to their officers, that they would be unilaterally changing their conditions of employment effective April 1, 2013.These officers are represented by the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) and have a negotiated collective agreement still in effect. The Police Services Board is disregarding this legal obligation and making significant changes to the workplace including reducing officers pay and decreasing maternity and paternity benefits.

 The clock is ticking down to March 31st, the date the Liberal government has set for the elimination of the revenue-sharing Slots at Racetracks Program (SARP), which will have a devastating impact upon racetrack workers across Ontario.

(Thunder Bay/Chatham) - The Conservative federal budget Bill, C-45, contains amendments to the Canada Grain Act that will remove requirements that protect grain producers from multinational grain companies, by eliminating the impartial weighing inspection of grain being received at terminal elevators. It will also increase self-regulation and decrease overall inspections.
